What is Medical Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a safe, non-invasive approach to skin care and is essentially a deep exfoliating procedure. Micro-fine crystals pass over the skin to take away a thin outer layer. This treatment is suitable for males and females of all ages and skin types and is commonly known as the ‘lunchtime peel.’
This treatment, suitable for all skin types, is a safe and effective way of exfoliating the skin without using any chemicals or laser. The machine produces a jet of crystals that are propelled across the skin’s surface through a sealed tube. A sterilized hand-piece vacuums them off to remove the unwanted dead skin cells and scarred tissue. The vacuum pressure of the treatment is customised, according to the client’s needs and skin type.
What effect does it have?
The procedure exfoliates the dry dull cells, whilst stimulating essential collagen and elastin fibres. A microdermabrasion treatment removes one to two layers of dead skin cells, depending on the intensity of the treatment. This improves colour, texture and the over all look of the skin, whilst the surface layers are smoother and healthier.
The result is a glowing, smooth, even and bright complexion. It is equally an ideal treatment to help you look fantastic for a special occasion or, more seriously, to treat unsightly skin blemishes and acne scarring.
What is it used for?
Microdermabrasion is effective in treating wrinkles and fine lines, acne and acne scars, age/sun spots, open/clogged pores, sallow, dull and dry skin, excessive oiliness and pigmentation.
What are the side effects?
There are no side-effects to this treatment (which takes about 30 minutes) and no recovery time is required. Mild redness may occur for between 30 minutes and half a day following the Microdermabrasion procedure, depending on the level of the treatment.
