Pioneer Clinic offers Sculptra treatment.

Sculptra™ is a synthetic, injectable material that contains micro particles to help lift and smooth sagging skin, severe wrinkles, creases, dark circles and scars. Sculptra™ can restore facial contours and get rid of lines and wrinkles without surgery.

Poly-L-lactic acid, the main ingredient of Sculptra™, has been used successfully in surgical procedures for more than 25 years and more than 150,000 patients have been treated worldwide since 1999. It is long-lasting, biocompatible and biodegradable and Sculptra was developed using it, especially to repair contour defects in the face.

Over time, your skin loses its full, firm, youthful appearance as a result of the natural ageing process and your skin is damaged, becomes thinner and loses its natural elasticity, causing it to loosen and wrinkle. Fat tissue, which also helps to fill out your face, is lost, causing skin to sag and further wrinkle. This reduction in skin volume can make your face look thin and narrow and can make you appear older than you are.

Sculptra™ smoothes lines and wrinkles and help your skin regain a firm and youthful appearance by restoring skin volume you may have naturally lost.

Unlike surgical options, Sculptra™ can provide gradual, natural-looking results with less traumatic treatment. Sculptra™ works in the lower layers of the skin to smooth and firm the treated areas of the face and the procedure can be performed in your healthcare professional’s clinic, taking as little as 30 minutes.

Sculptra™ FAQS

What is Sculptra® ?

Sculptra® is a synthetic injectable material known as “poly-L-lactic acid.” It is biocompatible (a material that does not harm the body) and biodegradable (able to be broken down by the body). As the main ingredient of Sculptra™, poly-L-lactic acid has been used successfully in surgical procedures for more than 25 years and more than 150,000 patients have been treated worldwide since 1999. Sculptra® is a synthetic, injectable material that contains microparticles to help lift and smooth sagging skin, severe wrinkles, creases, dark circles and scars and was specially developed to repair contour defects in the face without surgery.

How does Sculptra® work?

Sculptra® is injected below the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss and provides a gradual increase in skin thickness, with visible results appearing within the first few treatment sessions. Sculptra® will not correct the underlying cause of the facial fat loss, but will help improve the appearance by increasing skin thickness in the treated area.

Who is it for?

Sculptra® is intended for clients who want to restore the contours of their face or compensate for gradual signs of ageing, such as loose, wrinkled skin, lines and folds.

Asking yourself the following questions may be helpful:

  • Does my face show signs of ageing?
  • Do I have sunken cheeks?
  • Do I have deep lines between my nose and mouth?
  • Do I have unwanted depressions around the corners of my mouth?
  • How long does it last?

In contrast to some other treatments that require frequent refresher sessions, a clinical study has shown that the aesthetic improvements obtained with Sculptra® have persisted for up to 2 years in many patients. Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect.

How many treatments will I need?

Your healthcare professional will inject Sculptra® into the areas requiring treatment. The number of necessary injections depends on several factors, including your age, how deep your wrinkles are and the type of treatment you desire. After your first treatment, your clinician will determine whether or not you need subsequent treatments to obtain the desired results. Generally, several treatments can be necessary to obtain the required results. However, in contrast to some other treatments which require frequent refresher sessions, after the end of your Sculptra™ programme the results will last up to 2 years (The results can differ depending on age, wrinkling and the type of procedure used)

Are the results immediate?

No. At your first treatment visit, it may appear that Sculptra™ worked immediately because of the swelling from the injections and the water used to dilute Sculptra™. In a few days, when the swelling goes down and the water is absorbed by your body, you may look as you did before your treatment as Sculptra™ takes time to work. Results should be noticeable after approximately 6 weeks and your doctor will review you to decide if you need more Sculptra™ injections.

Who will perform the treatment?

A qualified medical practitioner who has been trained to use the correct procedure for Sculptra performs the treatment.

Do I need a skin test before being treated with Sculptra®?

No skin testing is required prior to use.

Will it hurt?

Sculptra® is injected in small amounts using a very fine needle, but, as with any injection, there may be some discomfort with the procedure and it may be that you notice a brief burning sensation at the injection site. An ice pack applied after the treatment will help to calm your skin. If necessary, the doctor can also give you a local or topical anaesthetic.
